Self Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

The Artist

His Work

Self-Portrait... see the signature on the lower right?

The thing is, I don't know how he smuggled a crayon into his crib as I, myself tucked him in for his nap. And I can't even find the crayon!

I know I'm probably supposed to be cross about this, but my immediate reaction was delight. He was just so happy with his masterpieces, as you can see from the (albeit blurry) photos. The scribbles aren't hurting anything, and, besides... I think they're sweet. I have no plans to remove them.

I love being a parent because I get to make the rules (along with my husband, of course). He agrees. The scribbles stay!

I agree! Leave the crayon! Love it.

Glad to hear you are interested in doing Foster Care. Our original intention was to adopt (we still want to)...we just feel right now, this is what God has called us to do. It is really tough, but, that's okay. Good foster families are needed! Keep me updated!

Oh that is so funny!
I have to admit I would have laughed too!
Oh and the crayon - you might want to check his diaper - he might have eaten the evidence :)
Blessings,
Kim

I'm so glad to hear that you are saving the "masterpiece."
My Jacob is now 7 years old and I still have a masterpiece on my living room wall. (It's actually on the stair landing at the back of the room.) I actually painted the room last year, but painted around his artwork. I just can't bring myself to part with it just yet.
And, you are sooooo right - being the parent and making the rules is wonderful when it comes to such things as preserving the masterpieces.
You go girl!!

Way to be, Mom! I wish I could have been a little more laid back like this. I did keep one "signature" on the inside of our closet. That artist is now 21, and that signature is precious to me!

That sleepy-boy face is too cute! At least he used a crayon and not something from his diaper. My oldest did that when she was a tot ;(

That is so sweet that you are letting the art work stay! As of now my instinct would have been to magic erase it, but ask me again in about 2 years when it happens to me! :)

The crayon definitely adds some artistic flair. Perhaps he could patton this and sell it to Pottery Barn?

So cute!

I have to confess I have always wanted to homeschool since Connor was as young as little Nick but it was never the right time. I have so many friends that do it and they say it is a ton easier than regular school.
Primarily b/c regular school gives so much homework these days and after doing all of that you could have just homeschooled and been done with it.
God will let you know what direction to go.
Much love,
Kim

I had to laugh reading your post. My oldest did the same thing when he three. When I asked him about it he replied, "It's a map to Pooh Corner."

He's now 19 and you know what? That space on the wall has never been painted over. I just can't bring myself to do it. You know?? It's hidden behind a bed, but I always know where I can find it and be transported by to those more innocent days!!

Enjoy this time. It goes by fast.
